Leif Ove Andsnes in Baltimore

Leif Ove Andsnes was just named in the "Best of the best of 2004" in Vanity Fair. On March 10 and 11 he will perform in Baltimore with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yan Pascal Tortelier.

Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes returns to play the big, romantic Second Concerto with its tolling-bells opening and its unforgettable last-movement theme. No piano aficionado should miss him in action!

Hindemith's "Symphonic Metamorphoses" has a title that's much more formidable than the music itself. Sibelius' "Pohjola's Daughter" is a powerfully dramatic tone poem based on a story from the Finnish Kalevala Saga. All this will be led by the very gifted French conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier.

Program:
Sibelius: Pohjola's Daughter
Hindemith: Symphonic Metamorphoses of Themes by Weber
Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2

Where: Baltimore, Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall
When: March 10 and March 11, 8:00 p.m.
