Cellist Aage Kvalbein is one of Norways best known musicians, both as a soloist, chamber musician and educationist. He has toured all over the world, received numerous awards and won several international competitions. He is also a 3 times winner of 'Spellemansprisen', the most prestigious Norwegian award for musicians. At the age of 33 he became Norways first 'cello professor' - a position he still holds - and he has recorded over 40 records.
Aage Kvalbein has most of the known cello concerts in his repertoire; among them Norwegian cello concerts by composers Arne Nordheim, Lasse Thoresen, Jens Wendelboe, Torsten Aagard Nilsen and Henning Sommero.
