Holiday events at Scandinavia House

Scandinavia House brings Nordic Holiday Traditions to New York. The 2005 season includes expanded Holiday Shop, Christmas Smörgåsbord, concerts & family programs  

The Holiday Shop at Scandinavia House
Every year during the holiday season, The Shop @ Scandinavia House expands into the exhibition galleries to offer a huge selection of Nordic products and holiday gifts.  Enjoy hot glögg and cookies while you shop for traditional and contemporary gifts. A festive Jul market will offer traditional Scandinavian holiday decorations and treats, including Christmas tree ornaments, tomte dolls, candles, cookies, candies, and chocolates.

A Family Lucia
Get into the holiday spirit with a classic tale of light, hope, and inspiration.  In this popular annual event, Swedish singer Eva Engman leads the festivities as children and their families learn about St. Lucia's songs and traditions, and enjoy a special performance by Lucia with her crown of candles. $10 ($8 ASF members, $5 children under 12)

Holiday Storytelling with the Hans Christian Andersen Storytellers
Kaye Lindauer tells H.C. Andersen’s “The Little Fir Tree.” For children ages 5+ and adults.  FREE

Christmas Smörgåsbord with Restaurant Aquavit at Scandinavia House
Enjoy a huge selection of traditional Scandinavian dishes when the world-famous Restaurant Aquavit presents a sumptuous Christmas feast in a festive holiday setting.  Savor the season by sampling Executive Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s extensive menu.
Lunch seatings: 11:30 am and 1:30 pm  Price: $50 adult ($40 American-Scandinavian Foundation members), $25 children under 12.
Dinner Seatings: 5:30 and 7:30 pm  Price: $65 ($55 American-Scandinavian Foundation members), $35 children under 12. Prices include tax, gratuity, and glögg; a cash bar will be available for other beverages. Rreservations are strongly suggested, must be prepaid.

Holiday Concert with The Scandinavian Chamber Orchestra
The acclaimed Scandinavian Chamber Orchestra returns to Victor Borge Hall at Scandinavia House for a special concert celebrating the magic of Christmas in Scandinavia.  They’ll perform works by Grieg and Rangström as well as traditional holiday favorites that will put you in a festive mood.  After the concert, There will be a Christmas Smørgåsbord. $ 25 ($17 American-Scandinavian Foundation members)
