Kings of Convenience on the West Coast

With soft voices and two acoustic guitars, the Norwegian duo that believes "quiet is the new loud," is taking to the stage on the West Coast and Canada.

Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye of Kings of Convenience have amassed a loyal following, with fans scrambling to get tickets. At IOTA Club and Café in Arlington, Virginia, the ticket line went down the block and snaked around the corner, at one of the duo's first concerts in February.

"Their music is quiet and subtle with great harmonies and good lyrics," said Randy Hullihen, an engineer from Virginia, who owns all their albums. "With the internet and satellite radio bands in Norway are not far away in a hidden corner anymore," he said.

The Kings have released three albums featuring simple but addictive harmonies. "It's the 60s and 70s coming back," Melissa Cecchiane said, comparing the duo to Simon and Garfunkle. "The venue had a great atmosphere, but we could have used some more space because some people we talked to outside were unable to get tickets," said Bøe following the concert.

After appearing in Arlington the two 29-year olds from Bergen worked their way up the East Coast and even appeared on "Last Call with Carson Daily." Their latest album, ‘Riot on an Empty Street’ is currently available.
