The Svalbard Museum in Longyearbyen has been awarded the Council of Europe Museum Prize for 2008. The museum that displays Svalbard’s natural landscape and cultural history, competed against 59 other European museums for the award.

The Norwegian artist Vebjørn Sand unveiled his Ice Bridge outside the UN building in New York City this week with massive media presence from all over the world. The bridge is an artistic effort to raise awareness of global climate change, and marks the beginning of Sand's "Live Ice" project.
