Join the Norwegian communities in Texas, Florida and Louisiana in celebrating the 17th of May.
In Houston the celebration starts at 4.00 PM on 17th of May at the Norwegian Seamen's church in Pasadena.
There will be an outdoor family service, a 17th of May parade in Young Street and games for both children and adults. The 17th of May speech will be held by Consul General of Norway in Houston, ambassador Svein Holst Andreassen. The Norwegian Seamen's church is located on 4309 Young Street, Pasadena 77504.
In Cranfills Gap (NW of Waco) there will be a Syttende Mai celebration in Cranfills Gap City Park on Saturday May 19th. The program starts at 10.00 AM. Host of the event is Norwegian Society of Texas - Bosque County Chapter.
In Miami, Florida there will be 17th of May celebration on May 19th at 2 p.m. at the Norwegian Seamen's Church in the port of Miami. About 200 Norwegians are expected to participate at this event.
In New Orleans, Louisiana there will be a lunch at the Seamen's Church at 12 noon on 17th of May. There will also be a bigscreen viewing of 17th of May celebrations from all over the world. On Sunday May 13th the Seamen's Church in New Orleans arranged a 17th of May parade in the streets around the church. There were also games for the children (and grown ups...) and dinner. Hot dogs and ice cream were served in garden.
