Innovative companies Snøhetta, Helen & Hard, Code and Space Group will present their work in two exciting lectures at Scandinavia House in November.
Snøhetta: Oslo to Alexandria to New York
The Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta was appointed to design the International Freedom Center for the World Trade Center site in New York in 2004. The firm is well known for its completion of the renowned Alexandria Library in Egypt; the National Opera House in Oslo, Norway; the Turner Contemporary in Margate, England; and the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin. Since its formation in 1989, the office has won numerous international awards and has been represented in exhibitions around the world.

A New Wave in Norwegian Architecture: Three Young Voices
Helen & Hard, Code, and Space Group
Architects from Helen & Hard, Code, and Space Group will discuss their fresh and innovative work and present the new wave of Norwegian architecture. Founded by Helen Stangeland and Reinhard Kropf in 1996, Helen & Hard has been recognized for their progressive approach towards sustainable architecture. Besides being prolific designers, they frequently lecture and teach. Code represents the new generation of young architecture offices in Norway and has since establishing their practice in 1997 won several national and international awards. The partners in the firm are Bjarne Ringstad, Gaute Stensrud, Julian Lynghjelm, Ole Einjord, and Henning Kalan. Space Group (Gro Bonesmo, Gary Bates, and Adam Kurdahl) was created in 1999 as international practice concerned with the contemporary city. Recent projects include the Vestbane expansion in Oslo in collaboration with Rem Koolhaas and OMA, and a new ferry terminal for the Hurtigruta Line in Tromsø, northern Norway.
