Mark your calendar for the 2005 Fall Scandinavian Festival, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, October 15, at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) campus and Grand-Hope Park, featuring music, food, art, crafts, vendors, folk dancing, Nordic bar, raffle, children's activities and a fun-filled day that celebrates Nordic influence in the diverse L.A. galaxy.
The theme, “Space Vikings -- Nordic Stars in the L.A. Galaxy,” celebrates two events: the historic westward immigration of Scandinavians across the uncharted Atlantic Ocean to the New World, whose spirit of discovery continues to resonate today in the areas of technology, medicine, the arts, architecture, design and more.
FIDM and Grand-Hope Park are located at 919 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, 90015, near the Staples Center in the beautiful “new” downtown Los Angeles. There is handicapped access, plenty of parking. Or, even better, beat the traffic and ride the train, serviced by the MTA Blue Line Pico Station. Admission to the festival is a $6 donation. Children under 12 are FREE. For more information call ASFLA at (323) 661-4273 or email David Larson (DavidLarson@asfla.org).
