Roald Amundsen, Man of Both Poles

Come and hear Dr. Tim Baughman discuss the adventures of Roald Amundsen on April 19 at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco.

100 years ago, the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen anchored up in San Francisco after being the first person to sail through the North-West Passage. On this occasion, Dr.Tim Baughman will discuss the adventures of Roald Amundsen at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco.

Dr. Baughman is a polar historian and professor of History and Geography at the University of Central Oklahoma. In association with the one hundredth anniversary of Roald Amundsen's successful conquest of the Northwest Passage in 1906, Baughman will recall the life of the man who was arguably the greatest of all the explorers of his day, a group that included Robert Falcon Scott, Fridtjof Nansen, and Sir Ernest Shackleton.

The event is cosponsored by the Norwegian Consulate General.
