Tellefsen was born in Trondheim, Norway, where he began to learn violin at the age of six. His career has taken him to all the major European venues and has toured extensively in the Far East, the former Soviet Union, and the United States. A formidable musician, it is his exceptionally warm, vibrant tone, and his passionate intensity which have won him acclaim throughout the world. His ability to captivate and communicate with the audience ranks him amongst the greatest violinists of today. He has worked with many of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, including Rozhdestvensky, Kondrashin, Mehta, Giulini Celibidache, and Svetlanov. In November 1993, he performed with the San Francisco Symphony.

Tellefsen comes to the Bay Area to kick off the 15th Annual Norway Day Festival, the largest festival of its kind in the United States. The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, May 3 – 4 at Fort Mason. For more information, visit: www.norwayday.org
