Soprano Marilyn Vondra presents a rare all-Grieg song recital, performed in the original laguage, in New York, Saturday, October 29.
This past Labor Day, Ms. Vondra participated in the Scandinavian festival in Edison, New Jersey. She presented a lecture titled ”Edvard Grieg, Norway’s Classical Music Genius”. Next season she will be performing her Edvard Grieg recital at the Skanfest. Ms. Vondra has an extensive background in opera. She has performed leading roles with regional and Manhattan opera companies. These performances have been critically acclaimed by The New York Times, New York Magazine, Opera News, and the Monticell Times Herald. She has sung the title role of ”The Merry Widow” with Westchester Singer’s Theatre; Donna Anna in ”Don Giovanni” at the Pine Orchard Festival; Fidalma in ”Il Matrimonio Segreto” for both the Berkshire Music Festival and the Vineyard Theater, Hippolyta in ”Midsummer’s Night Dream” for Il Piccolo Teatro del’Opera, under Maestro Anton Coppola; the Mother in ”Amahl and the Night Visitors” for Eastern Opera, and has sung Tosca, Madam Butterfly, Ameilia in ”Un Ballo in Maschera” and Elizabetta in ”Don Carlo” with opera companies in the Manhattan area.
