Jazz artist Karin Krog started her career over 40 years ago, and she is still performing. October 26, the seventy years old singer is entering the stage at Cachaca.
From Jakarta to London, from Australia to Hungary, from France to India. These are only a few of the cities where the Norwegian singer Karin Krog have held some jazzily performances. Now the legendary artist, who many refer to as the leading jazz singer of Norway, is finally once again coming to the US.
It has been a while since the fairly grown up woman was jamming at the Penguin club in Oslo in the 1950's. In the 1960's, Krogs international career really took off, and in 1975, she was awarded the title the “Female Singer of the Year” by the European Jazz Federation. Her popularity hasn’t waned during the years, and in 2005 she became the proud owner of a medal of the Royal Order of St. Olav.
Even though the singer has passed her seventies, no old outdated jazz music is going to be played at Cachaca in the end of October. Krog bears deep respect for jazz and its forms, but as always, she has a constant creative approach towards contemporary jazz, and this creative approach has never been bound by tradition.
