The Norwegians Mulders and Jansson are touring the U.S., with concerts in New York October 21 (charity concert for UNICEF) and October 23, Savannah October 28, and will perform at the Carnegie Institution during Science Week, October 24.
Kristin Mulders, (1978), mezzosoprano, holds a mastersdegree and an education degree in vocal performance from Wartburg College, Iowa, and the Grieg Academy of Music in Bergen, Norway. She has studied with the Norwegian tenor Harald Bjørkøy, Norwegian soprano Hilde Haraldsen Sveen, in additon to Håkan Hagegård, Elisabeth Norberg Schulz, and periodically in New York studying with Ms. Joan Patenaude-Yarnell and John Lidal at the Manhattan School of Music.
Mulders has given numerous recitals both in Norway and abroad, she has been a soloist with several choirs and orchestras, including Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, worked with conductors like Peter Schreier, Andrew Litton, Peter Szilvay, Ingar Bergby, and Eivind Gullberg Jensen, and she has appeared as a soloist in productions for the Norwegian television and radio. Her repertoire includes lieder, art songs, opera and sacred music, as well as music from the cabaret genre. During the last years she has received several scholarships for outstanding musical progress both from the U.S. and Norway.
Earlier this year she performed several of William Bolcom’s Cabaret Songs in New York, after working on the songs with the composer himself. Together with Jansson she has done several Grieg-concerts as a part of the official commemoration of Edvard Grieg this year.
Knut Chr. Jansson (1976), pianist, grew up in Fredrikstad, Norway, and started playing the piano at the age of six. He has studied with Jiri Hlinka and Einar Henning Smebye, and finished his mastersdegree in pianostudies and church music at the Grieg Academy of Music in 2002.
When he was 14, he had his soloperformance debut with an orchestra in Mozarts Concerto Rondo i D-Major. He has appeared as a soloist with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and recently he performed Griegs Concert in A-minor and Gershwins Rhapsody in Blue with two of Norways best wind-ensembles.
Jansson is also a versatile chamber-musician, and has done several concerts at i.e. Edvard Griegs home Troldhaugen. The last years he has been the musical director of Årstad Church-choir, receiving numerous promising reviews and critics for his work. Last year Jansson started a chamber music-series in Bergen, Norway, together with singer Kristin Mulders.
Mulders and Jansson have performed together at concert series in Norway and the US.
