Performance: “Secret History”, 30 min. live broadcast talk show at the Iron Studios in Bridgeport, as part of the opening of The Secret History of Chicago Museum. Ane Lan works in the fields of theater, music and experimental film. His artwork addresses the complex relationships between individual, body, media and society itself with its prejudices. The characters of his creation present themselves as both private and public, both fiction and reality, and often carry a political verdict. He casts the feminine against the harshness of dominant masculinity. Innocence and melancholy are important elements of his conscious effort to return to a childish perception of the world. There will also be a performance by Inger Lena Gaasemyr (Norway) and Jennifer Malloy (USA). Gaasemyr and Malloy opened an office in the Iron Studios Building to unveil their plans for Norwegian-style social housing. Historically the US helped Norway after WWII under the Marshall Aid program. Husbanken was started in 1946 as part of the rebuilding of the country. Now, it’s time to return the favor. As part of a program to help the US rebuild its splintered city communities, Gaasemyr and Malloy, with help from Husbanken, launches a project in Bridgeport, to show that social and sustainable public housing is possible also in the US.
