Hedmark Danselag Performance

On August 3 there will be a fabulous wild salmon dinner at Leif Erikson Hall, 2245 NW 57th Street in Seattle. Following the dinner is a performance by Hedmark Danselag and a dance featuring the music of Marit and Thomas Westling and other musicians of the group.

Norsk Folkedans Stemne 2004 features Hedmark Danselag, a premier group of Norwegian folkdancers and musicians. The group formed in 1991, was part of the official cultural programs during the Olympic Games in Lillehammer Norway in 1994. They also performed concerts in Japan in 1995 for the Nagano Olympics in 1998. Hedmark Danselag has traveled to Sweden, North Dakota, Canada, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom to perform. Their dance leader, Rolf Bjorgan, a halling dance master, is a featured performer of the gymnastic and crowd pleasing halling. In the final moments of this dance the performer attempts to kick off, with his foot, a hat dangling at the end of a pole held six to eight feet from the floor.
