Music and folklore lovers can enjoy a day devoted to traditional dancing, music, storytelling, and much more at the 3st Annual New Jersey Folk Festival. The event takes place on Saturday, April 30th, from 10 AM to 6 PM.
The New Jersey Folk Festival plans to showcase the Norwegian-American experience, past and present, through verbal and musical traditions such as family stories of immigration and settlement, dialect, humor, sacred songs, and secular dance tunes. Workshops will de devoted to customary traditions such as Norwegian "julebukking", food traditions like lutefisk, and material traditions such as log houses, embroidery, woodcarving, and rosemaling.
Admission is free and the event will be held on the grounds of the Eagleton Institute, George Street and Ryders Lane, on the Douglass campus of Rutgers, the State University, in New Brunswick.
