Norwegian designer Lars Urheim was among the chosen few to display his work at the curated HauteGREEN exhibition of sustainable design in New York.
Urheim is a part of TRØKK16, a design group emerging from Bergen National Academy of the Arts in Norway. Members of the group work together on designing objects and spaces, currently with a focus on furniture and lamps for industrial production. TRØKK16 represent an open minded direction in Scandinavian design.
At HauteGREEN, Urheim experienced great enthusiasm for his chair, being interviewed on the opening day, receiving lots of attention and even presenting his work as part of a "Meet The Designers" event on Sunday May 20.
The piece that was selected for the HauteGREEN is "Emir", which is a versatile 'sofa for one' in natural materials. It hosts two good friends, or one person alone, with a variety of seating possibilities. The carrying outer shell makes the chair less vulnerable, and enables a dynamic form without a massive internal framework.
