Carte Blanche at Dance Salad Festival 2009

April 10 and 11 the Norwegian Company of Contemporary Dance, Carte Blanche, performed in Houston as part of the Dance Salad Festival 2009. Carte Blanche danced alongside a variety of dancers from Europe.

It was the first ever performance in the US for Carte Blanche. The company was the finishing act in both of the evening shows they participated in at the Wortham Theater Center in Houston.

The Houston Chronicle wrote the following about Carte Blanche's Friday night performance: "The Norwegian contemporary troupe Carte Blanche brought heavy testosterone with Hofesh Schechter's Uprising -- a dance influenced by the choreographer's time with Ohad Naharin at Israel's Batsheva Dance Company. The pulsating music, also by Schechter, juiced up the environment for seven men (Yaniv Cohen, Jon Fahlstrøm, Ole Meland, Shlomo Ruimi, Christopher Petersen, Radil Thomas and Vedbjørn Sundby) who danced with buoyant tension."
