The Norwegian Consulate General and The Norwegian Seamen’s Church invite to this well reviewed theater performance at the Church on Friday October 27th. The Norwegian actress Jeanne Bøe will perform her play "PEER GYNT - with Troll in Heart", based on Henrik Ibsen’s play Peer Gynt. The play is a monologue, where Bøe plays all the characters.
What: Peer Gynt – With Troll in Heart
When: October 27; 7:30PM, reception from 6:30 PM
Where: Seamen’s Church, 2454 Hyde Street, San Francisco
Info: www.sjomannskirken.no
The monologue focuses on the love story between Peer and Solveig. It also shows his relationship with his mother Aase, his old girlfriend Ingrid and The woman in green. Peer is constantly lying to his mother, he flirts with the girls, and is always in some kind of trouble. When he meets Solveig, she changes his life forever. The same evening he goes too far with drinking and womanizing. Everyone is after him, and he fears for his life. Peer ends up traveling around the world, with Solveig on his mind, for nearly 40 years. He visits all continents and meets many characters along the way. He lives and loves, wins and loses.
The monologue got great revues from the critics in Norway when it premiered in 2004. It has been played more than 70 times in Norway, and Bøe is now touring the US with the English version.
The church invites all to a reception with open-faced sandwiches, waffles and coffee from 6:30 pm. The play starts at 8 pm. Suggested donation is $10.
