“Ibsen Art Exhibit” and “To be a Poet is to see – Ibsen in our Time” was on display at M² Gallery in Houston (TX) October 19-29, 2006. The exhibit was part of the 100th anniversary of the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsens death.
“Ibsen Art Exhibit” contained paintings and lithographs inspired by Ibsens plays, and was a collaboration between the Norwegian Consulate General in Houston and the Norwegian American Foundation. “To be a Poet is to see – Ibsen in our Time”, focusing on Ibsens modernity, was financed by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Norwegian Consul General, Mr. Svein Holst Andreassen, officially opened the exhibit on October 19th. Mr. Kim Nesselquist, chairman of The Norwegian American Foundation and Mr. Trond B. Olsen, coordinator of the “Ibsen Art Exhibit” gave speeches at the opening. The Norwegian actress Jeanne Bøe performed scenes from Peer Gynt, while Two Star Symphony created a great atmosphere with their musical contribution.
“Ibsen Art Exhibit” has also been in Minot (ND), and can be seen in San Diego (CA), Seattle (WA), Washington D.C. and Lanesboro (MN). “To be a Poet is to see – Ibsen in our Time” will be exhibited in Minneapolis (MN) after Houston.
