Five artists from Virginia will display a range of artworks with motives from Kaupanger in Norway at the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education, March 8 to April 19.

Resulting from their trips to Norway in 2005 and 2007, five artists from Virginia will display images in oil, watercolor, charcoal and textiles at the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education. Kaupanger, located near the eastern tip of Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, Sognefjord, served as inspiration for the artwork. The five Virginian artists, Mirjam Ahladas, (a native Norwegian,) Phoebe Antrim, Arlene DeConti, Barbara Duke Jones, and Christaphora Robeers, will be joined in the exhibit with works by Gjert Heiberg of Kaupanger, Norway.

On Sunday, March 8, the public is invited to the opening reception, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a program at 4:00 p.m. The program will include a short talk by Virginia author, Carla Danziger, who has written mystery novel, Hidden Falls, set in the Sognefjord region of Norway. After the program, she will sign copies of her book that will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served.
