Michael Knud Ross' "New World"

Opening September 27 and running through November 2, Norwegian born Michael Knud Ross will be showing his first painting in New York.  "New World" will be in the Williamsburg Art and Historical Center's "Paradise Lost" show, which honors the four-hundred year birthday of the poet John Milton.

The exhibition is a celebration of John Milton displaying historical artifacts and contemporary art celebrating “Paradise Lost”, arguably the greatest poem in the English language. There will be a huge costume-ball on the opening night, described “As sinfully delicious as ‘Man’s first disobedience’ and the most fabulous extravaganza since Adam & Eve had to cover their nakedness!”

Michael Knud Ross was born in Norway in 1977, and grew up in Finland and in the Washington DC area. He studied painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art for two years, transferred to the University of Maryland, and graduated in 2000 with a degree in anthropology. Michael has been working as a painter and a sculptor, showing mainly in the DC-Baltimore area and recently in San Francisco and Los Angeles. From the fall of 2005 through early 2006, Michael Ross worked as an assistant to and student of the famous Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum. He currently live and work in San Francsico and is represented by Geras-Tousignant Gallery.
