Anne Katrine Senstad exhibits portraits from her book The Norwegians. The book consists of 50 photographic portraits of Norwegians, an artistic investigation of the subjects cultural identity.
-“The Norwegians” is about an investigation of - and a reaction to my roots, Norwegian society, it's people, culture and social phenomena, says Ms. Senstad. -These portraits allow us to study a selection of Norwegian types. Their faces and clothing reveal explicit as well as more subtle signs that flag nationality and culture The portraits are of Norwegian men, a mixture of prominent personalities such as authors, explorers and artists as well as everyday people. What ties the subjects together is that they all embody the character and essence of “Norwegians”.
The book also contains the accompanying essays "On Subjectivity and Documentation" by Gerd Sander and "On the Hell of being Norwegian" by Thure Erik Lund. Both essays are printed in both Norwegian and English. Opening reception and booksigning December 6 , 6-8 pm
