Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute visits San Francisco for Nobel Days

The Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute for the Peace Prize in Oslo, Mr. Geir Lundestad, visits San Francisco September 19 - 20 in connection with the Nobel Exhibition. Mr. Lundestad will give presentations at the Stanford University Nobel Day September 19 and at the Commonwealth Club September 20.

 

Stanford University Nobel Day: Nobel in the Past, Present and Future. September 19, 2005

Stanford University is home to 16 living Nobel Laureates - 13 affiliated with Stanford University and three affiliated with Hoover Institution. Because of its strong Nobel connection Stanford will host a series of short presentations by Nobel Laureates and Nobel officials from Sweden and Norway.

Lunch Program at the Commonwealth Club : Behind the Scenes of the Nobel Prize. September 20, 2005

Behind the Scenes of the Nobel Prize: The Roles of Sweden and Norway in the Nobel Process will feature Geir Lundestad, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo, and Michael Sohlman, director of the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm.

In connection with the Nobel Exhibition at the Exploratorium, The Nobel Prize: 100 Years of Creativity, on view through October 2, The Commonwealth Club of California will present a panel consisting of the two persons who are in a position to know most about the inner workings of the Nobel Awards. Michael Sohlman is director of the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, which oversees the Physics, Chemistry, Medicine or Physiology, Economics and Literature Prizes, and Geir Lundestad is director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, which oversees the  Peace Prize. Lundestad and Sohlman will give The Club an insider's account of this coveted prize.
