Norway’s new official site in the US replaces the old Norway.org. Most of the content is still there, and hundreds more articles about Norway have been added. In the menu on the left you will find articles covering many aspects of Norwegian society: politics, business, education, research, culture and tourism, to name a few. In the culture section you will also find a new events calendar, which gives you an overview of Norwegian events in the US. Other new features are web cams from Norway, weather forecasts and automatically updated news bulletins from the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.
All Norwegian embassies and consulates general are now upgrading their websites to this standard, with a uniform design and structure. The basic content has been translated into 18 different languages, and the sites have been adapted to local conditions.
”Norway’s new official site communicates with a broader foreign audience. A more visible image of Norway will have a positive impact on Norwegian politics, business and culture,” said Foreign Minister Jan Petersen when Norway’s official site was launched for the first time, in Brazil in October 2003.
