The Symposium was held on the occasion of the official visit of Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja to Washington, D.C., which took place in the context of the 2005 Centennial.
The overall background and purpose of the Symposium refer to the historically strong educational and research bonds between Norway and the U.S. The 2005 Centennial is an opportunity to revitalize and broaden these vital bonds across the Atlantic. The Symposium also served as an arena for promoting and informing about Norway’s recently adopted Strategy for Research and Technology Co-operation with North America.
