Advancing Translational Cancer Research and Innovation

The conference will take place on May 3-4, 2007 at the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. The focus will be om breast cancer, including frontier technologies such as vaccination, stem cells and others.

Collaborative cancer projects between USA and Norway will be presented at a symposium in The Research Triangle Park (RTP) in North Carolina, one of the worlds largest research parks.

The Research Council of Norway, Innovation Norway and The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Washington DC are, together with RTP coorganizing the symposium which will focus on transatlantic collaborative activities from basic research through to innovation and new business.

A large number of cancer projects funded by the Research Council of Norway have active US partners. Also many Norwegian biotech companies have US collaborations. The importance of the North-American market, know-how and venture capital can not be underestimated. Norway, on the other hand, has an innovative research base, important biomedical resources such as biobanks and a number of young biotech companies.

The symposium is aiming to create a focused arena which will bring these components together, and thus promote new cancer cures as well as new business on both sides of the Atlantic.
