A conference on the High North or the Artic areas will take place at the University of California, Berkeley on November 19 – 20. The conference is a collaboration between the Institute of European Studies at UC Berkeley, the University of Tromsø and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco.
The conference should be seen in the context of the International Polar Year. It will last two days and deal with international perspectives on the Arctic areas. The conference will focus on the environment and resources. Climate change and its implications will be highlighted. Security policies and the development in Russia are important sub themes. American and Norwegian speakers will give presentations on these important topics.
