Welcome to the premiere of Kjell Habbestad's "The Munch Suite" at the National Gallery of Art, Sunday January 6th at 6:30 PM. 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of legendary Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, and the concert is part of the yearlong sesquicentennial celebration.

Christmas is coming, and the Norwegian Embassy is getting ready for what is the most important holiday in Norway. This week the embassy said thank you to America at the annual tree lighting ceremony at Union Station in Washington, D.C.

The Norwegian Chief of Defense General Harald Sunde is in the United States this week on an official visit by invitation from his U.S. counterpart General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The purpose of the visit is to discuss national interests and challenges that lie ahead, with particular emphasis on the High North.

On Monday 13 August, the 22 July Commission handed over its report to Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. “The 22 July Commission’s report is a milestone. It has put the facts on the table. It gives us a common understanding of what happened. It gives us a basis for learning. And most important, it gives us a basis for taking further action,” said Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.

Norway's Embassy chef, Sondre Bruvik Ellingstad, won the Top-Chef style "secret ingredient" challenge at the annual Embassy Chef competition in Washington DC. More than a dozen chefs from Washington DC embassies, compete in this annual culinary competition. A panel of celebrity chefs and food critics serves as judges throughout the competition.
