The project providing Internet access by means of a solar power system is backed by Fjellnet and the Lom local authority.
“Now we can all go onto the Internet and look at pictures directly from Galdhøpiggen. You can see what the weather is like, enjoy the scenery and be inspired to climb to the top yourself,” said Bjørn Grønlien, regional head of Fjellnett in northern Gubrandsdalen, to the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.
Galdhøpiggen is an important tourist and recreational destination, and the objective of the project is to stimulate greater activity in the local area. Apart from being able to boast of having climbed Norway’s highest mountain, you will find the view alone well worth a visit to Galhøpiggen. On a clear day you can see approximately 35 000 km² of peaks, glaciers, valleys, forests and lakes from the top.
