Q: What is the voltage of the power supply in Norway?

A: The electric current in Norway is 220 volts. Prongs on wall outlets differ from those in the U.S.
This means that to operate small travel appliances, such as irons, hair dryers and electric shavers, current converters and adapters are required. Most hardware stores in North America carry these products. Larger hotels in major cities also have them available for their guests.

Q: We wish to get married in Norway, what are the procedures?
A: Getting married in Norway - for American Citizens. Please follow these steps:
1. Licensing Requirements: An American marriage licence must be obtained to certify that there is no hindrance for the marriage.
2. Regulations: You must contact the minister or County Court Judge in the town/city where the marriage is going to take place, to apply for a Norwegian authorization of Marriage.
3. Waiting Period: Two weeks after having contacted the minister or County Court Judge.
4. License Costs: Minimal, if any.
5. Health Regulations: When signing the Norwegian certificate you declare at the same time not to be suffering from any kind of venereal disease.

Q: What are the job opportunities in science, engineering and technology in Norway, and how do I find a job in these areas?
A: There is a great demand for software and systems engineers for information technology in all industrial and public sectors. Offshore engineering and the areas of biotech engineering and manufacturing also lack highly qualified staff. Any EU/EEA national may apply.

Q: How can I bring my pet with me to Norway?

From 1st January 2012, the rules for bringing your dog, cat or ferret to Norway has changed. Find out the rules in plenty of time before your travel, and make sure to prepare properly.
