Globalskolen offers courses with an emphasis on reading and writing. The curriculum of Globalskolen is based on the Norwegian national curriculum considering both content and methodology. The program has been approved by the Education Directorate and is a part of "Complementary education for children abroad". The offer also applies to students who have Norwegian as a second language. Students are expected to study for a minimum of 90 minutes per week in each semester. The two semesters a year last 15 weeks each.
In October 2011 the school had 1,275 students. By 31/07/2012 the state grants to groups and parents conducting the supplementary instruction will be closed down. The scheme will be continued by for instance online schools, and Globalskolen is ready to accept more students. Deadline for next semester is January 30th.
