On a monthly basis, GHP invites a Houston-based Consul General for the “Coffee with the Consuls” event, inviting them to talk about the business opportunities between Houston and their respective countries. They also provide a typical breakfast from the country in question. A traditional Norwegian breakfast includes several types of bread, fish, cheese, ham, orange juice and large amounts of coffee.
To represent Norway, Norway’s Consul General in Houston, Jostein Mykletun, INTSOK’s representative in Houston, John Hurter, and Project Manager for Innovation Norway, Eric Namtvedt, were all present at the event. After they had given respective introductions of their activities in Houston, Russ Capper, host of the radio show The BusinessMakers, discussed a wide range of topics with the panel. Among the topics discussed were Norway’s energy resources and the accumulation of the world’s largest sovereign fund, Norway’s political relations to Russia in the Arctic, and Norway’s reaction to the tragic events of July 22. The audience left the event with new information about Norway and its business opportunities, and hopefully we will see some of them again as partners with Norwegian businesses in the future!
