Norwegian Constitution Day Celebration

Last updated: 5/16/2012 // On Sunday May 13, 750 happy Norwegians gathered at the Norwegian Seamen’s Church in Pasadena to celebrate Constitution Day.

Norway’s National Day, Constitution Day, is on May 17, but this year, the celebration was held on the Sunday before. The program included a sermon by Ingvild Fallegård, Pastor at the Norwegian Seamen’s Church, child and youth choir performances, Speech of the Day by Brit Marie Steckmest Sivertsen, and a greeting from H.M. King Harald V of Norway, presented by Consul General Jostein Mykletun. Afterwards according to Norwegian tradition, a Children’s Parade was organized, accompanied by a brass band. The rest of the afternoon offered activities for young and old. Norwegian hot dogs and cakes were also served.
