“Silicon Valley technology and the West Coast outlook have a significant impact on our everyday life and influence the young generation in Norway like no other place in the world. We will increase our efforts to connect to the many exciting developments taking place next to the Pacific, and it is a privilege to serve as a diplomat in the United States and to live in California”, Rosnes says.
Consul General Sten Arne Rosnes sees possibilities for strengthening the relationship with and furthering Norwegian interests on the Pacific West Coast, in the Rocky Mountain States, as well as in Alaska and Hawaii. He finds a lot of common attitudes with regard to current global issues and regional opportunities to build on.
Norway also wants to contribute to addressing the challenge of Climate Change more effectively, and Rosnes underlines that “Our experience from the High North and the dramatic developments we witness in the Artic with regard to ice melting, makes this a main priority.”
Before taking up his current position in August 2008, he was Head of the Norwegian Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority, and has previously been Deputy Chief of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Tel Aviv. He has also served at the Mission of Norway to the United Nations in New York, the Mission of Norway to NATO in Brussels and in Bonn, Germany.
