Kon-Tiki, the Oscar nominated film about Thor Heyerdahl's 4000-mile South Pacific expedition- premieres tonight, Friday April 26, at The Landmark Theater in Los Angeles. First screening starts at 12:15 p.m.

The Norway Day Festival takes place Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5 and lasts from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. Price is $5 - $15. The festival highlights Norwegian food and beverage, music, dance, arts & crafts and activities for kids.

Scandinavian Festival in Thousand Oaks, CA

The Scandinavian Festival returns to the California Lutheran University this April. The annual festival highlighting the Nordic cultures will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday April 20, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21.

In the last several years, the chamber chorus "Sacred and Profane" has championed the rich choral tradition of the Scandinavian countries. May 11 and 12, the chamber chorus will perform in Berkeley and San Francisco and sing some of Scandinavia’s most beautiful and inspiring music, including a number of works based on the rich folk music of the region.

Literature of the North Today: Conversations with Nordic Authors

The Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study will feature a series on Contemporary Literature of the North in San Francisco May 2-4. The meeting is free and open to the public and will take place in the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton San Francisco Financial District.

The famous Norwegian rock band Kvelertak will tour the U.S. this spring. With their newly released album “Meir” (More), the band will perform in 11 different states in April and May. May 7, the band performs at the famous live music nightclub Slim's in San Francisco. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.00.

Oslo's kings of deathpunk are coming back to the U.S. May 18 the band begins its extensive tour with a show in New York. After performing at different venues in Illinois, Colorado and California, the tour finishes with a show in Las Vegas May 26.
