A dream team consisting of writer Lars Saabye Christensen, journalist Tom Stalsberg, musicians Knut Reiersrud and Stian Carstensen, and photographer Lars Eivind Bones, will be touring the United States with their concert “Søndagsmatiné med Buicken”. Sunday on the 23rd of September, they will play at the Norwegian Seamen's church in San Francisco.
The project started in 2008, when Saabye Christensen was guest editor for an issue of Magasinet, a feature of the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet. He seized the opportunity and went to the United States to travel and write along the way. With him came journalist Tom Stalsberg and photographer Lars Eivind Bones.
Left with more material than what they could use in the magazine, the book “Men Buicken står her fremdeles”, was born. This is a collection of poems and some of Bones’ moving, black-and-white photography’s.
An audiobook has since been released where the group expanded with the Norwegian Grammy award winning musicians Knut Reiersund and Stian Carstensen. The audiobook resulted in more than 70 shows and a new book, “Min Buick er lastet med”, which they will be touring with this September. We will hear Norwegian lyrical poetry grounded on blues, rock, pop, Balkan, tango, American folk, classics, put together with some good humor. Some of the poems will be performed in English, and some will also be accompanied by Lars Eivind Bones’ photographies.
Sunday September 23 they will be playing at the Norwegian Seaman’s church in San Francisco, and you don’t want to miss it!
