The famous Norwegian rock band Kvelertak will tour the U.S. this spring. With their newly released album “Meir” (More), the band will perform in 11 different states in April and May. May 7, the band performs at the famous live music nightclub Slim's in San Francisco. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.00.
“They're called punk and metal, but at their hearts Norwegian berserkers Kvelertak are the living, fire breathing embodiment of rock and roll. Since their formation in 2006, they've built a die-hard fan-base hungry for their utterly ferocious live shows that have already burned two flaming tire-tracks across the globe,” writes Slim's.
The band, all Stavanger natives, made their debut in 2010 with their self-titled album “Kvelertak” (Stranglehold), an album that was celebrated with Spelleman Awards for Best Newcomer and Best Rock Band. Despite the Norwegian lyrics, the band has a diehard fan base all over the world, a fan base that has eagerly been awaiting the band’s second album.
“Meir” was released in March to excellent reviews. Critics in Aftenposten hailed the album as a “demonstration of power,” ranking the band as one of the greatest Norwegian rock bands of all time. Dagsavisen characterized the album as “heavy, sharp and lively” giving the album 6 out of 6 stars. Slim’s description of the band sums it all up neatly: “Think stunning guitar leads that recall the heady days of Guns N' Roses tempered with the down-stroked muscularity of Metallica, with the party-vibes of a rockabilly hoedown. Kvelertak are nothing short of a Fjord Fiesta.”
In April and May, the band will give performances in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Minneapolis, Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Texas, New York, Washington, D.C. and Massachusetts.
