IEA Gas and Oil Technologies Initiative organizes "Offshore Frontiers Roundtable" at Rice University on May 7

Last updated: 4/28/2015 // organizes "Offshore Frontiers Roundtable" at Rice University on May 7 In cooperation with Rice University and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Houston, the International Energy Agency’s Gas and Oil Technologies (GOT) Initiative is organizing a Roundtable at Rice University on "Offshore Frontiers - Challenges and Responses" during the upcoming Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2015).

The event will take place on the Rice campus on May 7 from 3 P.M. to 6 P.M., and will be followed by a networking reception.      

The Roundtable marks the first step by IEA GOT to define the roadmap for governments, the research community and industry to work together on technology challenges and responses related to prudent offshore operations and risk management in support of safe, efficient and sustainable offshore E & P activities. 

The Roundtable is preceded by a topical breakfast at OTC on May 6, featuring the Director of the Bureau of Offshore Safety and Environment, BSEE/US Department of Interior, Admiral Brian Salerno, and the Chairman of IEA GOT, Jostein Dahl Karlsen on “Offshore Safety: Getting it right through rules, practices, and technology –A collaborative Approach”.   

Key contributors at the Rice OTC Roundtable are: ExxonMobil, Statoil, Chevron/DeepStar, FMC and DNV GL.

In addition to Rice University and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Houston, the event is being held in conjunction with the Burea of`Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the National Petroleum Council (NPC).
