More than 80 industry representatives, academics, government officials and representatives from the Houston energy community attended the Lunch’n Learn featuring Hege Kverneland, Chief Technology Officer and Corporate Vice president of National Oilwell Varco, sharing her perspectives on the need for purposeful innovation in the oil and gas industry, short and long term. Some of the areas she provided updates on were developments within drilling automation systems, systems for remote operations and the application of big data.
Ms. Kverneland not only confirmed her insights into the future of oil and gas technology, but she also demonstrated her ability to inform and entertain the audience in a way that created both laughter and lively discussions in the big conference room at Norway House. Her main message was that we need to innovate and develop new technological solution even through challenging times like today, when the crisis is more severe and, potentially, longer term than we have ever seen in the oil and gas business.
The presentation was very well received, and the audience even commented on Ms. Kverneland multitalented skills;
“If the current market situation would take another turn for the worse, you (Ms. Kverneland) would definitely have a bright future in comedy clubs.”
