New Consul at Norwegian Consulate Houston

This summer the consulate welcomed a new Consul to Houston, Ingunn Martinsen Oudia.

Ingunn Martinsen Oudia is the new Consul of Norway in Houston, and deputy head of mission, as of august 2016.  Her main responsibilities at the Consulate will include administration and accounting, safety and security, managing Norway House and handling issues within the consular area.

Mrs. Oudia has been with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1979, where she has held several different positions. Previously she has held postings at the Norwegian Embassy in Washington DC from 1996-2002, and the Norwegian Embassy in Ottawa, Canada from 2006-2009. She is accompanied by her husband, Lyes Oudia.

This is Mrs. Oudia’s first time working at a consulate, and she is excited to see how this experience will compare to her previous positions in Norwegian embassies. “We’ve been living in North America for several years, and when deciding to return to the U.S. we knew we would enjoy ourselves. The state of Texas is interesting and stands out in an American context. We are eager to get to know the state, and especially Houston and the people living here”.

We welcome Ingunn at the Consulate, and wish her the best of luck getting settled in Houston!
