The formal signing ceremony and the reception were hosted at Norway House earlier this week, as a joint effort between NGI and The Norwegian Consulate General in Houston. Guests travelled in from  Austin, Houston and surroundings to witness the commemoration. The audience was welcomed by Consul General Morten Paulsen and Mr. Victor M. Taboada, President of NGI Inc. This was followed by three presentations, starting with, Mr. Earl H. Doyle, Consultant, who talked about the Gulf of Mexico geohazards with an emphasis on deep water. Secondly, Mr. Bob Gilbert, Professor at UT Austin, presented his insights about the deadliest landslide in U.S. history  which took place in Oso, Washington, in March 2014. In the final presentation, Mr. Knut Schroder, who was the one to initially establish the NGI offices in Houston, now Technical Expert at NGI’s Oslo office, spoke about offshore renewal energy related projects being conducted by NGI. Following the presentations, the actual signing took place with great excitement.

The signing ceremony was followed by a reception, including food, drinks and the chance to chat with students, academics and representatives from the industry alike.
