Ole Mathisen - saxophones
Chris Washburne - trombone and didjeridoo
Michael Bates - bass
Tony Moreno - drums

"A quartet that seeks a space between jazz and chamber music" according to The New York Times, FFEAR’s objective is to explore new sonic possibilities by adopting contemporary classical compositional techniques into an improvisational setting.Conventional uses of meter, tonality, and harmony are replaced with multiple meters, microtonality, and open templates of form to create a fresh approach to improvised music.

FFEAR has been performing to packed clubs and concert halls throughout the U.S. and Europe, including the Rochester Jazz Festival, Molde Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Arhus Jazz Festival, Miller Theater at Columbia University, Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene in Oslo, and Smalls and Dizzy's Jazz Clubs in New York City.
