Norwegian Christmas at Union Station

Please join us for the annual Norwegian Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Union Station. All are welcome.

A tradition begun in 1996, the tree is a gift from the people of Norway to the people of the United States as thanks for your assistance during and after World War II, and for the continued friendship between our two nations.

Members of the New York Opera Society will be performing, The Caroles of Greater Washington will sing Christmas carols, and the tree will be lit by Lt. Gen. Christopher C. Bogdan of the U.S. Air Force. The Embassy has confirmed that Santa Claus will be on hand with gifts for the children, and there will be gløgg and cookies for the rest of the audience as well.
