About National Tourist Routes
There are still roads that are not merely designed to get you to your destination as quickly as possible. National Tourist Routes are beautiful drives with that little bit extra. The routes are carefully selected by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, and each of the 18 routes has its own history and character. Our job is to make sure the routes are adapted to travellers' needs. We do so by building spectacular viewpoints with service buildings, car parks, furniture, paths and art.
About The Passage A Moving Memorial
The art installation by Mary Miss, is part of the new Staten Island Courthouse and Memorial Green project located on the site of the former New York Marine Hospital in the civic center of the borough. In collaboration with Susan Rodriguez of Ennead Architects, the designer for the Courthouse project, Mary Miss's memorial commemorates the immigrants who were quarantined here between 1799 and 1858, many of whom were buried on the grounds that are now the Memorial Green.
