Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Concert at Union Station

Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Concert by the Children's Chorus of Washington: At Union Station's Main Hall in Washington, D.C., on December 3, 6 pm. Free admission.

For the 13th year, the Norwegian Embassy lighted the 32-foot Christmas tree at Union Station.  The tree is a gift to the people of Washington and a symbol of the friendship between the United States and Norway.  The tree was lit by Army Chief of Staff General Casey as Deputy Chief of Mission from the Norwegian Embassy, Johan Vibe presented the tree to the citizens of Washington D.C.

Internationally recognized Children's Chorus of Washington, which represented over 100 schools in the metropolitan Washington area, performed beautiful holiday songs.

The event creates an opportunity to stop by the Norwegian Giant Model Train exhibit in the West Hall at Union Station.  The trains are hand made replicas of actual Norwegian trains set in a Norwegian landscape of mountains and fjords, and will run until 6 pm on January 3, 2010. The tree will be on display until the evening of January 4, 2010.
