Honest to the point of painful embarrassment, Turn Me On, Goddammit! examines the tenuous social structure of teenagers and embraces the intricacies of a young woman's sexuality in a way that no film in memory has.
Turn Me On, Goddammit! is a humorous, bittersweet and tender tale of teen angst and budding sexuality set among the mountains and fjords of Norway. Alma, a teenage girl from the small town Skoddeheimen, has a lively imagination and over-active libido. After a titillating but awkward encounter with school heartthrob Artur turns her into a social outcast, her world is tunred upside down. She desperately wants to get out of town and on with her life.
With its complicated and perfectly executed tone balancing candid sexual content with a certain earnest awkwardness, Turn Me On Goddammit! is an apt evocation of the particular complexities of teen girlhood.
