The Linie Award 2011 Champion Bartender Halvor Digernes will be guest starring at the legendary Death & Company bar in New York for a week starting September 18th.
This year, bartenders from the Nordic countries competed for a work period at the well-known New York bar, Death & Company. Norwegian Halvor Digernes from Fuglen bar in Oslo won NOK 15 000 and will spend a week working in New York this September. Head bartender from Death & Company, Thomas Waugh, was on the jury.“I was very impressed with the quality of the Nordic finalists, but Halvor secured victory with his Dandy Lion drink”. Jury chairman Roar Hildonen added: ”The Dandy Lion had the distinct taste and aroma of Lysholm Linje. It had good balance and exciting ingredients in an unusual combination. The whole drink was very elegantly done”.
About the Linie Award
The prize is awarded at the annual culinary contest the Linie Award, which is arranged by spirits producer Arcus AS in cooperation with the Culinary Academy of Norway. The Linie Award is one of the Nordic region’s most prestigious competitions for young chefs and bartenders. The object of the contest is to create greater interest in the Nordic food and drink culture.
