The Christmas Concert from Vang Churche was broadcast by PBS in more than 30 American states.
Acclaimed musicians and singers
The 2010 concert presented traditional classical and holiday music.
Along with the Samuelsens, Measha Brueggergosman, the internationally acclaimed soprano who performed at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics, sang at the concert.
The other solist performing at the concert was Norwegian tenor Didrik Solli-Tangen. A recent graduate of the acclaimed Barrat Due Institute of Music in Oslo, Solli-Tangen represented Norway in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.
Other featured performers include a three-time Grammy nominated ensemble, the Trondheim Soloists; Choir Collegium Vocale; and members of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. Featured music included “Oh, Holy Night”, “Adeste Fideles”, “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, “Silent Night”, and “Winter” from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
Hosted by the Princess
Accompanying the music from the beautiful little church in Hamar, were outdoor scenes of wintertime and holiday celebration in Norway’s Hamar region.
The broadcast was hosted by Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, and film director Harald Zwart, whose films include “The Karate Kid” and “One Night at McCool’s”.
