Alt for Norge at the Seamen's Church in New York and in Virginia are memorial concerts to heal Norwegians far from home on Thursday September 15th and Saturday September 17th at 7 pm. Laura Loge and Signe Mortensen, Sopranos, and Knut-Erik Jensen on Piano.
News of the tragic attacks on peace loving Norwegians have stunned the American people. Two Scandinavian-American Sopranos and a Norwegian pianist have joined together to present a memorial concert for the victims and help begin the healing for those affected and living far from home.
The concert will include Scandinavian musical treasures from Norway and Denmark to honor the multicultural influence of the musicians involved.
Sharing their talents will be Norwegian pianist, Knut-Erik Jensen, and sopranos Laura Loge and Signe Mortensen. Laura Loge, who is of Norwegian heritage, regularly performs Scandinavian music and currently lives in Bellevue, WA. Signe Mortensen, a Seattle native who currently lives in New York City, is of Danish and Swedish heritage. Knut Erik Jensen, who is regarded as one of the top accompanists for singers in Norway, has performed throughout the US, Canada, and Europe.
Program Highlights include:
● Songs by Carl Nielsen, Edvard Grieg, Christian Sinding and Eyvind Alnaes
● Arrangements of Norwegian folk tunes by Per Winge
● Norwegian solo piano selections by Edvard Grieg and Geir Tveitt
● An original piece by Knut Erik Jensen dedicated to the victims of the attack
● Selections by Sergei Rachmaninoff
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for the Norwegian Red Cross
